Olympus-ITA Receives Fourth Order to Supply Wafer and Defect Review Systems to Major Integrated Device Manufacturer
San Jose CA - November 7, 2006 - Olympus Integrated Technologies America (ITA), a subsidiary of Olympus Corporation of Japan, known for high quality semiconductor systems and software for wafer inspection and defect review, announced an agreement with one of the world's largest US integrated device manufacturers (IDMs) to purchase additional 300mm wafer inspection and defect review systems from Olympus. This represents the IDM's fourth round of system purchases from Olympus.
Besides ordering additional AL3100 systems, the IDM also ordered the FR3200 automated defect review system. By including the FR3200 system in their process, the IDM can take advantage of Olympus's superior deep ultraviolet (DUV) optics, high resolution, and automated defect review capabilities. The AL3100 will continue to provide 300mm macro and micro wafer inspection, defect review, wafer ID verification, and wafer sorting capability.
Olympus systems can integrate 248 nanometer DUV optics with a broad range of visible light imaging methods to increase the resolution limit of standard optical inspection to 80 nanometers. Compliance with 300mm factory automation standards further helps Olympus customers to reduce cost and improve performance in the factory. These systems perform a broad range of inspection and defect review tasks, providing information on defects and maximizing yields for manufacturers involved in semiconductor processes.
"Receiving our fourth order is a testament to the quality and reliability of the Olympus systems," said Olympus-ITA president Greg Baker. "In addition, these systems offer a huge advantage in being able to perform a variety of tasks, all in one small footprint. With the importance of lean manufacturing, maximizing floor space, and reducing process steps, having all these capabilities in one tool is very convenient and cost effective."
